Then

Stepping into Chalet La Vie is a leap into an important part of Swiss history. The Chalet was built in 1898 for the “Swiss Village” for the Universal Exposition of Paris of 1900, the most visited trade fair of all times. The chalet in the neo liberal style was commissioned to show case the advanced skills of the carpenters and the window making capabilities, the elaborate woodwork of the chalets was to seduce the emerging world tourist to visit Switzerland.

After the Universal Exposition, the chalet was dismantled piece by piece and rebuild in nothing less than one of the most thought after villages of Switzerland, Schoenried, for it overlooks the Gstaad valley and rejoices of simply stunning Alpine views with Southwest exposure.

By the turn of our century, an extensive renovation was carried out by local craftsmen with great care to preserve the authenticity of the original build.
